A trail running around Mount Titano, The Cliff’s Trail leads you through the woods at the foot of the Third Tower. The uphill bits are worth it for the incredible view and glimpses of landscape they offer. Due to the steepness of some parts of the trail, it is perfect for climbing lovers too.
The Cliff Trail in San Marino is an easily accessible and well-traced, but not always well-marked, trail going around Mount Titano on the side looking over the sea and the Romagna Riviera.
The trail runs through the woods below the Three Towers of San Marino, the walk takes about 2 hours and it leads you to the square called Piazzale Kennedy where the headquarters of the Gendarmerie Command and State Radio-Television are located.
From here you can easily get to the Third Tower and then to the Second and the First one, following the path along the city walls, which also crosses the evocative Witches’ Path.
On the way back you can choose the easiest way and get back by cable car, or you can head to the Crossbowmen’s quarry (Cava dei Balestrieri), continue to Contrada Omerelli and then take the road that runs along the mountain which, through the city wall of Porta della Rupe, in 10 minutes takes you to the entrance of Borgo Maggiore and back to the starting point.
